Cheung Chau, Hong Kong
Cheung Chau is a wee island and only six miles south west of Hong Kong, usually seen as the best one of the Outlying Islands in Hong Kong.
Initial thought of visiting Cheung Chau comes from the TVB drama 'Slow Boat Home', which was primarily filmed here. This dumbell shapped small island is home to a thriving fishing village, beautiful sandy beaches, interesting dining choices including some of the best seafood in Hong Kong, and green wooded hills perfect for hiking and enjoying the greenery of Hong Kong.
Historic sights such as the Pak Tai Temple, and Cheung Po Tsai Cave, which is alleged to be the hiding place of Cheung Po Tsai, definitely worth a visit. a 19th-century pirate. Of course don't fail to visit during the Bun Festival when the whole island comes alive in celebration. The annual festival includes a parade of floats, most famously including young children dressed as famous characters doing impossible balancing acts.
