Edinburgh is the Capital city of Scotland and one of major cities in United Kingdom. City has lot of historical monuments instead of monument become world heritage site entire new town and old towns were made as world heritage site. Here are the some of the places you must not miss when you visit Edinburgh.

1. Edinburgh Castle
Edinburgh Castle is the Edinburgh's and Scotland's most popular tourists paid attraction. This centuries-old structure has been build on volcanic rock and it become interesting, long lasting iconic landmark of the Scottish capital. Castle's entrance space is used for military Tattoo show every year in the month of July.

2. Scott monument
Scott monument is Gothic style monument build in the honor of writer Sir Walter Scott. This is situated at the east end of princess street. It is worth going up in a squeeze steps to get panoramic views of the city. Entry to go the top of the place is £3.


3. Royal Mile
Royal Mile starts at Edinburgh castle goes up to Holyrood palace on the other end. This walk has many historical monuments, cathedral and other historical places, whisky experience. There will be allot of street shows during Fringe festival time. 

4. St Giles Cathedral
St Giles Cathedral is also known as High Kirk of Edinburgh, is the principal place of worship of the Church of Scotland in Edinburgh. The distinctive crown steeple is a prominent feature of city skyline and it was started in 1400 AD.
5. Holyrood palace
Holyrood palace is the official residence of British Monarch in Scotland. It served as the principal residence of the kings and Queens of the Scots since 16th Century.

7. Arthur's seat
Arthur's seat is the volcanic rock it is situated in the center of the city of Edinburgh, about 1 miles to the east of Edinburgh Castle. The hill is 250 m above the city and it is relatively easy to climb provides excellent panoramic views of the city. Though it can climbed from almost from any direction, the easiest and simplest ascent is from the east, where a grassy slope rises above Dunsapie Loch. There are two small lakes in Arthur's seat area which have swans in it.
8. Forth Bridges
Forth Rail Bridge is a Cantilever railway bridge over the Firth of Forth opened in 1890. Three spams looks amazing and this is considered as iconic structure of Scotland. If you visit this place you can view both bridges and take a small ride on boat to Ichcolm island.

10. Fringe festival
Edinburgh fringe festival is the world's largest arts festival. There are lot of events which includes music, Dance, Comedy, Drama, magic Shows, Circus, Special military show called Tattoo. Many Artists across the world come here to perform every year. Fireworks at the end of festival are most astonishing event.

11. St Mary Cathedral
St Mary Cathedral,  I will recommend to visit this place. this Church is very quite and got nice architecture on the walls and at the entrance.


12.Famous people in Edinburgh

Many great people born in Edinburgh, Alexander Graham Bell was a scientist and engineer who invented first practical telephone was born in 14 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh. James clerk Maxwell was born at 14 India Street, Edinburgh.  J.K Rowling famous for her Harry Potter fantasy series born wrote her book when she lives in Edinburgh. There is coffee shop where she used to go and sit write book it is near George IV Bridge.
13. Bank head office
Bank of Scotland Head office which has small museum where you can see pile of 1 million real pounds.
