Zanzibar, Tanzania

Location: Zanzibar City, Tanzania
Zanzibar Archipelago is an island of Tanzania in Indian Ocean. It remained as a semi autonomous territory in Tanzania. Construction and artwork is influenced by many and you can see a mixture of African, Arabic, Indian and European cultures and their architects. Trades with Arabia and Persian gulf flourished between 12th and 15th centuries, It used to supply slaves, spices, wood, ivory and gold  to Asian countries mainly to India.
Stone town is a old part the town and it is worth visiting with mosque and churches, old stone constructions with Arab architecture. Stone town is UNESCO world heritage site. Walking through the small narrow streets of stone towns will make you mesmerised with the Zanzibar's history and culture. Zanzibar got nice natural harbour and  beautiful white sand beaches.

Monument to the slaves in Zanzibar-this is the slavery memorial in Stone Town, Zanzibar. It is meters away from the site where slaves were traded along with spices and ivory up until the abolition of slavery. The chains you see in the picture are originals- these were once used to hold the slaves in captivity.
